Greg Dempsey

Douglas Homer

Greg heads up business operations and product development at Goal Alert. He is drawn toward solving problems through socially conscious product development including safety in sport.

A 1992 graduate of the University of Illinois, Greg’s involvement in entrepreneurial pursuits began with a book that he penned while studying at the University of Illinois (’92) and subsequently sold to Bantam Doubleday Dell. Upon graduating Greg began a career in construction management where he managed some of Chicago’s largest and most challenging commercial interior projects. At this point his involvement in product development was relegated to a side pursuit, however, in 1997 he licensed and sold a product (patented in 2000) to a national manufacturer with distribution to many of the nation’s largest retailers.

Beginning in 2003 Greg immersed himself in all relevant aspects of soccer goal safety including the physics of soccer goals and the tip over, soils and soil conditions, disparate anchoring systems as well as the human/mismanagement element involved in tip overs.

Although Greg did not play soccer as a child his passion for the cause of soccer goal safety has its’ origins with a childhood accident experienced by a friend.
